Hollywood movie star Rober Davi will be visiting Estonia to perform the songs of his dear friend Frank Sinatra. Davi, who sang for a full house at Saku Suurhall in 2015, considers Estonia to be the world’s best kept secret. This year, his itinerary also includes Tartu in addition to Tallinn.
Prior to reaching the top of the movie industry, Robert Davi, a professional actor and singer, also studied classical music and opera. Having played tough male characters in Hollywood blockbusters, such as “Licence to Kill”, “Die Hard“, “The Expendables 3“ and “Showgirls”, Davi found his way back to the music of his youth six years ago when he released “Davi Sings Sinatra: On the Road To Romance” – an album devoted to Frank Sinatra.
The paths of Frank Sinatra and Robert Davi crossed in 1977, when Sinatra chose to cast Davi in the television drama “Contract on Cherry Streets”. Davi remembers sitting in a truck on set, having played the part of an assassin, and being approached by Sinatra who looked at him with his finger pointed and said, “Your acting skills are phenomenal”. Davi and Sinatra remained friends until Frank Sinatra’s death in 1998.
The concert show “Born Free Tour”, with performances at the Nordea Concert Hall and Vanemuine Concert Hall, includes songs from various stages of Sinatra’s career. Internationally renowned hits, such as “New York, New York”, “My Way”, “Strangers in The Night”, “Dancing in The Dark” and “Too Marvellous for Words” are just a few examples of Davi’s carefully chosen repertoire. In-between Sinatra’s timeless love songs, Davi shares touching personal stories and speaks to the audience. At his concert in Saku Suurhall two years ago, Davi said that he considers Estonia to be the world’s best kept secret, as there are so many beautiful people here.
Tickets for the concerts “Davi sings Sinatra” on 7 and 8 November can be purchased at Piletilevi salespoints and on their website at www.piletilevi.ee
